AI Use Cases

I have been trying to figure out what the high-value uses of AI are for me so that I don't forget to use them.

It's a little bit like a challenge I have with cooking: There are lots of recipes I love to cook and eat, but when I have to figure out what to make for dinner I usually only select from a small set of recipes that I can easily remember.

I'm also fascinated by the things I hear about other people doing with AI. There's no way I'm going to come up with the best uses for AI in my work and in my life; people more creative than me are going to learn how to cast better spells, and I just hope to learn about it.

So I've started to collect use cases in a Notion database, which I've made public online here. Maybe you'll find some of these ideas useful, or maybe you have a killer use case that I don't have in my list. If so, please shoot me a note and I'll add it.

Here are a couple of interesting things I've noticed while making this list:

• My clear default is ChatGPT, but I use Claude whenever I want to interact with another service or app, like Apple Notes or my email.

• Chat is the dominant interface, but most of the time I will dictate into the chat window. I prefer this to advanced voice mode.

• Most of these use cases are still very simple, single-step ideas. I haven't built confidnece in the tools to accomplish anything that strings together different services or multiple steps.

• I am not building a relationship with any of the AI agents or using them for conversation the way many people are.
